Forgotten artist Dora Noyes comes out of the shadows

We are delighted to have been able to acquire and offer for sale a major work by the seemingly forgotten plein-air painter Theodora (or Dora) Noyes (1864-1960). If Noyes is known at all today, it is as a watercolour illustrator from the early years of the 20th century. But this substantial exhibition work in oil shows her to have been an artist of considerable ambition when she was a young woman in the 1880s. This compelling work ranks her immediately alongside the best of the English female plein-airistes of that decade. Click here for full details.
